Cherry Blossom Mania

Every once in a year, in April, the Altstadt (Old Town) neighborhood in Germany’s former capital Bonn is crowded with tourists. The Kirschblüte, or Cherry Blossom, attracts people from all over the world since the tiny—and blooming— streets of Heerstraße and Breite Straße have been featured on web sites and traveler blogs. People gather to take pictures, have a cold beer in one of the many cafés and bars, or simply enjoy walking around the multicultural neighborhood. The activities culminate in the yearly Kirschblütenfest, or Cherry Blossom Festival, with food trucks, musicians, and more than 20,000 visitors.
